Modeling and Control

Welcome to ModelingandControl.com. You will find that our posts focus on technical aspects of process control and simulation. The information provided will be based on our experiences in these areas. Between us, we have a broad range of experience in the design and commissioning of batch and continuous process control systems and the development and application of process simulation for operator training and control study. We hope you find the information we post to be of interest and that it will help you in your work.

Why are we doing a joint blog? Well, we have known each other for over 30 years. Over this time we have at various times interacted on projects based on a common interest in process simulate and control. For example, a few years ago we collaborated with Mike Brown, Matrikon, and Willy Wojsznis, Emerson Process Management, on the book Advanced Control Unleashed. Greg’s work experience is primarily with chemical and bio-chemical processes and teaching control classes at the university level. Terry’s work experience is primarily in the Pulp and Paper and Ammonia Industries and in the design and development of control products and associated standards. Thus, our experiences are in many ways complimentary and will allow us to cover a broader range of issues and to present different perspectives on a specific subject.
